Why isn't anyone talking about ME and MY issues?
Fri Oct 07, 2005 at 01:06:27 PM PDT
Sorry, none of this is working for ME.
I come to DailyKos to talk about the issues that interest ME, not the ones that the community has deemed important with its "recommended list".
For instance, I came here to talk about Rove and only Rove. And what do I see on the recommended diaries? No diaries about Rove.
Looking at the front page, I've noticed that only 3 out of 24 stories are about Rove and Plamegate. A search in the recent diary list turned up a mere 30+ diaries pertaining to Rove. I expect better.
We clearly have a breakdown in producing stories that I want to talk about. If DailyKos continues on this course, it will rapidly become irrelevant to ME.
Project Cast This Movie: Got Bush?
Fri Jul 22, 2005 at 04:02:04 PM PDT
25 or so years from now, Hollywood will produce a
comedy about how two teenie-boppers brought down the Bush administration called "Got Bush?", capitalizing on twenties nostalgia for the Got Milk campaign of the naughties.
From the 20-something(and younger) comedy actors and actresses of today, cast them in the 50-something Bush administration roles they'll play in the future. Obviously, our teenie-bopper heroines aren't born yet, but if you know any up and coming 1-year olds, go ahead and include them.
Who will play Dubya? Karl? Scooter? Bolton? Judith Miller?
Break out the cast lists of every (current) Nickolodeon show and SNL and let me know! Bonus points for including pictures of our future Bush administration impersonators.
The Iraq War was RIGHT and here's why
Wed Jul 06, 2005 at 09:58:36 AM PDT
The US-British (and some would say Polish) invasion of Iraq in 2003 has been the center of considerable controversy and skepticism, much of it coming from France, Germany and Russia.
With an unsafe situation on the ground, nearly 2000 allied dead, 25K-100K Iraqi dead, many have wondered if the French were right.
Fortunately, all doubts were laid to rest Wednesday when London narrowly defeated Paris to host the Olympics in 2012 thereby demonstrating finally that the Iraq War was the correct course of action.
DNC Spam AKA How to enlarge your democratic majority for free! (w/poll)

Seriously, what's up with the e-mails from the DNC lately? Are they trying to end up in peoples' spam filters?

Save vault5151! Steven needs our help!
Tue May 03, 2005 at 04:36:20 PM PDT
I checked the past 50 diaries to see if anyone had written about this yet. Sadly, that was not the case. Time is of the essence and we must act quickly.
Vault5151 has been a valued commentator in the Kos community for a long-time now. Whether it's been standing up for our Democratic Leadership Council or defending Democratic Senator Lieberman from radical leftists, we've all benefited from his insight and wisdom.
But all of that could change if help isn't received in the next 48 hours.

Seems to be a lot of calling out going round these parts lately. Instead of spreading things out over several diaries, we should centralize things here for...

Military hitting recruitment goals?
Thu Nov 11, 2004 at 01:28:27 PM PDT
Republicans have been claiming there won't be a draft because the military is hitting all of its enlistment goals this year. Everything's fine! Stop worrying.
Obviously, the best way to keep hitting goals in the face of lowered enlistment is to simply lower the goals. So I googled around to find the goals. Naturally, news article don't give goals for the previous years when trumpeting how the military is hitting the marks.
2002
Air Force - 37823
Army - 79500
Marines - 38642
Navy - 46500
2004
Air Force - 34080
Army - 77000
Marines - 36773
Navy - 39700
Numbers explain themselves.
Military spokesmen have been saying things are so great that they don't need as many new recruits, hence the lower goals I guess, because "retention" has been so great.
I just wonder how much of that "retention" is voluntary.
WHY ARE YOU HERE? (w/poll)
Sat Oct 30, 2004 at 01:03:58 PM PDT
Seriously.
Shouldn't you be out canvassing or making phone calls?
If not now, when? After the election? After Bush gets elected with a Republican Senate, a Republican House, a Republican Governor with a Republican state legislature?
Get to work people!

Here's a wild idea: Dean for VP
Thu Jun 17, 2004 at 06:17:06 PM PDT
If a conservative, if principled, guy like McCain is being seriously considered by everyone, then my idea ain't that far out there.
And by Dean, I mean John Dean, of course.
He's been a pretty harsh Bush critic. He'd be a constrast to Cheney with regard to White House shenanigans; Dean went with his conscience in Watergate; Cheney goes with his pocketbook. He could be cast as a watchdog to make sure no one in Kerry's administration ever tries to abuse the constitution.
Has anyone seen him speak? Is he any good? Is he charismatic? Bush-criticisms aside, is he left or right of center in other views?
WA-08 Primary Bloodbath
Fri May 21, 2004 at 09:51:49 AM PDT
Radio talk show Dave Ross is running for Congress after being recruited by the state party chair, Paul Barendt.
Alex Alben was the Dem front-runner, having been recruited to take on Jennifer Dunn, raised half a million so far and garnered the endorsements of most of the Congressional delegation and the Governor.
Washington State's primary is in September. We used to have a completely open primary but the state parties fought to have it changed. Currently it's a "Montana-style" primary where people are still free to vote in any party's primary, but they can only on that one party's ballot. But it's still not really settled and I'm told it could end up with both parties holding conventions and selecting candidates that way.
Further complicating things, Ross is planning to stay on the air until he officially files in July, which does seem rather unfair.
Ross has three months to put together a campaign and raise the money to beat Alben.

Help make the AFA cry (again)
Tue Mar 09, 2004 at 07:36:18 PM PDT
As one of the Heterosexual Traitor(tm) masses involved in the Gay Conspiracy(tm) trying to implement the Homosexual Agenda(tm), I did my part to make sure the AFA's poll on gay marriage produced a result different from what they intended.
Interestingly enough, I got an e-mail from them today helpfully informing me of a new poll about the Presidential race.

Kerry/Clark!

Seeing as my 4th choice overall is going to be the nominee, I've been been thinking about VP candidates. I think Clark would be the best choice overall for Kerry.
CW was right after all!
Thu Jan 22, 2004 at 08:56:14 AM PDT
Many people have said that CW in many places was off given what happened in Iowa, but in actuality, Iowa confirmed a lot of CW.
For instance, CW held that Gephardt was going to be the anti-Dean. As it turned out, he was!
Just like matter & anti-matter, when you put Dean and anti-Dean in the same room, they annihilate each other!
Now, CW was a little bit off when it came to Clark. CW thought he could be the anti-Dean.
They were half right at least. Clark is the anti-Kerry.
I'll have to go check but I have a feeling that CW was right in a lot of other ways too.
